Tour
of the College
Debney Park SC is located in a residential area with wide tree-lined
streets. The college is easily accessed by public transport and
is only a few hundred metres from the Gateway to Melbourne on
Citylink. Students come from all parts of Melbourne and use both
the tram service in Mt. Alexander Road and the train from either
Newmarket or Flemington Bridge stations.
The 1996 Building is characterised by wide, naturally lit internal
walkways which link the various sections of the college. In inclement
weather students can access all of their classrooms without having
to go outside. The walkways contain work produced by students
in Art classes
The Library is the heart of the college. It is modern, popular
with students and well resourced with both books and computers.
Computers are connected to the college network and provide high
speed internet access.
Adjacent to the library is an audio-visual room with modern editing
equipment. This room is used for Media classes at Years 9, 10
and the VCE.
Our friendly manager and her staff serve a range of hot and cold
food from the canteen. Students have input into what is sold with
daily specials a feature of this well equipped facility.
Although the school grounds are compact reflecting the inner
city location, students enjoy the active and passive areas which
are spread throughout landscaped and treed surroundings.
The college gymnasium is modern and well used by all members
of the school community. It is the venue for regular level and
whole school assemblies.
The college has well equipped areas for Technology. The Foods
and Wood/metal rooms are new and the hardware in the computer
laboratories is updated regularly. These spaces cater for a variety
of teaching styles to be used.
A vibrant arts program exists in the college. Recently a mosaic
wall was completed by students. Moonee Valley Council also used
students at the school to design and produce flags for their community
festival.
The college band is also very active. Opportunities exist for
all students to learn an instrument at each year level. In 2000
a Singing and Performance Group was established to enable students
to be trained in vocal techniques.
