Debney Park Secondary College Senior School
Later Years
In the later years of schooling (Years 10, 11 and 12) the college sets high expectations in regard to student commitment, performance and conduct. In their endeavours, students are supported by a very active Senior School team, which comprises:
- A Senior School Co-ordinator
- A Year 12 Mentor
- A Year 11 Mentor
- A Year 10 Mentor
- A Pathways Co-ordinator
- A Community Health Worker
- Pathways Counsellors and Negotiators
- A VASS Administrator
The college¹s aim is to provide a broad curriculum, which allows students easy access to further education or an appropriate career path. Currently the college offers a comprehensive Entry Level (Year 10) program, including the opportunity to study VCE and VET units and VCAL modules(provided the student is 15 years old by January 1 of the year of study) during the year.
Entry Level (Year 10) Students' Program
The program is designed so that individual students can choose the most appropriate course based on their aptitude, interests and aspirations. Students can study a variety of modules throughout the course of the year including a combination of VCE and VET subjects.
Students must complete 6 modules each semester (each module consists of 5 x 50 minute lessons each week for 20 weeks).
English and Mathematics are core Entry Level modules and must be studied each semester. Students then choose 4 other modules each semester.
Over the year, students must study at least one module from each of the domains of The Arts, Heath and Physical Education, Science, Humanities and either Design, Creativity and Technology or Information Communications Technology (ICT).
Students may choose to study VCE, VET or VCAL subjects instead of Entry Level modules in selected domains.

Students use this facility as a resource to assist them with their work across each of their subjects. Normally students work within the areas of film, animation, claymation and music technology. |
Later Year Timetable |
Blocking of all later years subjects enables students to have access to a greater variety of subjects. For example, students in Year 11 may take the opportunity of studying one or more unit 3 & 4 subjects. Besides giving students an important foretaste of life in year 12, it is a way of enhancing the ENTER score used for university entry. |

All students have the opportunity to attend at least one three day camp throughout the year. |
Sport |
Students participate in three interschool sports days as well as school based Athletics and Swimming carnivals. |

Homework Club |
Qualified tutors from the University of Melbourne are employed to provide support for students on two afternoons each week. |
Well Being Workshops |
Half day sessions for year 10, 11 and 12 students provide opportunities for students to consider personal goals and how to achieve them. Visiting motivational speakers provide expert advice and inspiration as well as addressing health and well being issues. |
